The Soudronic FBB500 First Drive Gearbox supplies an indexing drive motion to two output shafts from one constant speed input shaft, originally designed by Ferguson and based on their standard globoidal cam system.

The Soudronic FBB500 Second Drive Gearbox supplies a sinusoidal output from constant speed input and is a very "one off" design originally from Wabco Westinghouse, it incorporates both sliding and rotating components.

An upgrade package has been developed for the FBB500 First Drive Gearbox which has been designed to give good life expectancy of the unit while increasing the speed from 500 to 600 cans per minute.
The upgrade includes:
  • New high precision cams.
  • New high precision followers.
  • New increased diameter cam shafts.
  • Modified and increased I/D pulleys.
  • New stronger bearing housings.

An upgrade package has also been developed for the FB500 Second Drive Gearbox which has been designed to give good life expectancy of the unit while increasing the speed from 500 to 600 cans per minute.
The upgrade includes:
  • Additional locking feature on the critical nut.
  • New larger balance weight.
  • Increased axial preload on all thrust bearings.

All the upgrades to the above two gearboxes include a complete stripdown and clean. They also involve the replacement of all bearings, seals, gaskets, 'O' rings, timing belt and any other parts that are worn, as part of the included refurbishment.

Gearboxes can be refurbished separately without the need for the upgrades, with parts needing to be changed being replaced by standard components.
